Birocapedia was started by Harry Netzer in December, 2007 and put on the world wide web on April 21, 2008. It is hosted on just a Dell home computer with some special software installed. You may have noticed that this site looks a lot like Wikipedia. That's because this site was made with the same software that Wikipedia was made with. That software, called MediaWiki, is free and can be found at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki. That software creates a wiki site which means anyone can edit just about anything. That means that it is very easy to edit articles but it is also easy to vandalize them.

There are two goals of Birocapedia. One is to help parents or anyone else learn a little bit more about Birch Rock. The other is to preserve the history and traditions of Birch Rock. Birocapedia is powered by Ubuntu, Apache, MySQL, and PHP5. Birocapedia is not affiliated with Birch Rock Camp.
