It's waters flow out of the lake's northwestern end into the short Rangeley River, then into Mooselookmeguntic Lake, the Androscoggin River, Merrymeeting Bay, the lower Kennebec River, the Gulf of Maine and ultimately the Atlantic Ocean. The lake is on average 95 feet deep and at its deepest point it is 149 feet deep. The area the Rangeley Lake takes up is about ten square miles. Maneskootuk Island (also called Doctors Island) is in the eastern part of the lake. In the western part there is a small group of islands called South Bog Islands.
