For example, [[:Category:Activities]] exists as a index of all activities at Birch Rock. One could have made a page called Activities that has a list of activities but the reason that was not done is there would be no interesting content on that page besides the list. Conversely, pages like [[Duck]] and [[Loon]] were not put into a category like "Long Distance Swims" because" but instead listed on a normal page [[Long Distance Swim]] because there are things to say about Long Distance Swims besides just listing them.

A category is a page that has a list of links to all of the articles in that category. You can put pages into a category by putting something like this at the bottom of the page:
